Breakthrough is an educational platform designed for healthcare education and training. It is not intended to provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations or clinical decision support for real patients.
Educational use only
All cases, simulations, scores, feedback and other content provided through Breakthrough are for educational purposes only.
Breakthrough must not be used:
- to diagnose or assess a real patient;
- to determine treatment, prescribing or management decisions;
- as a substitute for professional clinical judgement;
- as a substitute for applicable clinical guidelines, local policies or professional standards; or
- to provide emergency or other clinical care.
Healthcare professionals and students should independently verify clinical information using appropriate authoritative sources.
Artificial intelligence
Some Breakthrough features use artificial intelligence, including simulated interactions and AI-generated educational content.
AI-generated content may contain:
- inaccuracies;
- incomplete information;
- inappropriate or unexpected responses;
- inconsistencies; or
- information that does not reflect current clinical guidance.
AI outputs should therefore be critically evaluated and must not be relied upon for real-world patient care.
Breakthrough does not guarantee that AI-generated information will always be accurate, complete, current or clinically appropriate.
Simulated clinical content
Clinical scenarios and patients presented within Breakthrough are intended to be fictional or simulated unless clearly stated otherwise.
Information generated during a simulation should not be interpreted as information relating to a real patient.
Scores, rankings and feedback are educational tools and, unless expressly agreed otherwise with an institution, are not validated measures of clinical competence or professional performance.
Do not enter real patient information
Users must not enter identifiable or confidential information about real patients into Breakthrough, including names, NHS numbers, dates of birth, contact information, identifiable clinical records, photographs or other patient-identifiable information.
Cases should use fictional, synthetic or appropriately authorised educational information.
Educator and institutional content
Universities, educators and other organisations may create or upload their own educational content to Breakthrough.
Those organisations remain responsible for reviewing the accuracy, suitability and educational appropriateness of content they provide or approve.
No professional relationship
Use of Breakthrough does not create a doctor–patient, clinician–patient or other healthcare professional relationship between Breakthrough Medical Solutions Ltd and any user or other individual.
